KEBYA 2026 photography workshop info

Kenya is home to the holy grail of African safari wildlife photography. The Masai Mara is like no other place on the planet. When visiting the Mara, you are transported into an ancient world where the animal kingdom still reigns supreme. There you will have the opportunity to witness lions, cheetah’s elephants, leopards, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and so much more.

The park of Amboseli is located in eastern Kenya and is home to over 1,600 elephants. Much warmer and drier than Masai Mara, Amboseli offer a unique opportunity to photograph elephants in a wide-open landscape. The region is home to the oldest elephant in Africa. (His name is Craig). Craig is a super tucker that will cause your jaw to drop with his massive tusks that nearly drag on the ground.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why should I book this photo safari? Wardynski Photo has sold 5-Star reviews on Google and a consistent base of repeat customers. Providing quality workshops that are fun and educational is Mike Wardynski’s biggest priority. This photography workshop is designed to get you in the best position possible for excellent wildlife shots. The small group aspect will allow you to maneuver within the jeep without having to fight for a position amongst the other participants.

What airport should I fly in and out of? Jomo Kenyatta International Airport NBO

● What is the food like? Are there vegetarian options? We will be eating at the lodges throughout the duration of the workshop. These lodges serve up some of the biggest buffets that you'll ever see. They have a wide variety of options to choose from. There will be salads, fresh fruit, juice, Indian inspired cuisine, a variety of meat and vegetable dishes and more. Vegetarians will have no trouble eating in Kenya.

What type of animals will I see on safari in Kenya? The amount of wildlife in Masai Mara and Amboseli is astounding. Possible sighting include Lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, rhinos buffalo, jackals, hippos, giraffes, zebras, crocodiles, flamingos, antelope and many many others.

Do I need a big prime lens to get good shots? Prime telephoto lenses are advantageous because they have much faster maximum apertures than zooms but a big prime is by no means required to get good shots. They simply make it easier to shoot in low light.

What photography experience do I need? I work with photographers of all skill levels. With that being said, it is best that you have a basic understanding of your camera and how it works. I’m more than happy to set up a private virtual intro to photography session with you if needed.

Do I really need trip insurance? It is not required, but it is highly recommended. It’s a small price to pay for a little piece of mind.

Do I need travel health insurance? Travel health insurance that covers safaris and evacuations is highly recommended.

Am I guaranteed to see lions and other big cats? You would have to have some very bad luck to not see lions and other large cats in Masai Mara. They are everywhere.

What Vaccines are recommended? Visit the CDC website for a list of recommended vaccines. It is up to your digression to decide which vaccines you want to get.

Is a visa required? Yes, an E-Visa is required. You can apply for one here.
