With over two billion stars in the milky way galaxy, it is by far the most interesting thing to see in the night sky. In this photograph, the core of the Milky Way rises vertically above White Pocket in Vermillion Cliffs National Monument, Arizona. The desert Southwest has some of the darkest skies in the U.S. and make for excellent star gazing and astrophotography. © Mike Wardynski Photography
