The Manhattan Beach Pier stretches into the Pacific Ocean during a beautiful pastel sunrise. The ocean and sky merge into a pink coalescence as time blends in this four minute long exposure. This peaceful ocean landscape is one of the most calming scenes in Southern California.
The Manhattan Beach Pier was built in 1920 and is the oldest standing concrete pier on the west coast. The pier is a total 928 feet long and is a popular destination for fishermen and surfers. The first surf shop is said to have stated underneath this pier. Dale Velzy operated underneath the pier for a number of years before moving to a nearby storefront in the city of Manhattan Beach. © Mike Wardynski Photography
