Fall Colorado Photography Workshop Review
This October, a group of passionate photographers gathered in the heart of the San Juan Mountains for my annual Colorado fall photography workshop. It's a journey through color, texture, and light. Based in the charming mountain town of Ouray, we set out each morning with hot coffee, hopeful hearts, and cameras ready for whatever the mountains might reveal.

Weather and Light
Mother Nature delivered an artist’s dream this year. The week was filled with moody clouds, dappled sunlight, and shifting atmospheres that painted the valleys in drama. Every turn of the road revealed new compositions with aspens shimmering against slate gray skies.
The Colors of the San Juans
This year, the fall colors were nearly perfect. There was a symphony of gold, copper, and crimson cascading across the slopes. From the high passes near Silverton to the serene meadows outside Ridgway and the rugged beauty surrounding Telluride, each location offered its own palette and personality. The San Juans once again proved why they are among the most inspiring destinations for Colorado fall photography.
Iconic Vistas and Intimate Moments
We photographed the classic grand landscapes that define Colorado’s autumn season including towering peaks crowned with color, but also took time to seek out the little details. Textures, reflections, and intimate forest scenes became just as captivating as the sweeping mountain views.
A Community of Creatives
What truly made this workshop special was the group itself. I'm lucky to have some of the best clients in the world. My philosophy is that photography should be fun and luckily, my clients feel the same way. We shared stories, laughter, and those silent moments of awe when the light turns just right and everyone forgets to breathe.
Looking Ahead
As I look back on this year’s experience, I’m filled with gratitude for the mountains, for the weather’s wild cooperation, and for the group that put their faith in my ability to get them to the right spot at the right time.
